No need to hassle with paper, pens, or clipboards, much less windblown or wet paper, this app allows you to take a field survey easily and conveniently on your iPad or iPhone. FieldSurvey counts and locates any item you wish to survey in the field. For example, a US Fish & Wildlife biologist in Alaska is using it to count moose populations and demarcate their range. A civil engineering firm in Great Britain uses it to inventory street lighting for municipalities. An event planner in St. Louis uses it to plan the location of toilets, first aid stations, and information kiosks for outdoor events. It is also used for Audubon Christmas counts and bio-blitzes.
Whether for biology, engineering, or inventory, your survey items are counted and mapped. No longer will you need to transfer your information from paper to a database or spreadsheet. FieldSurvey exports survey details in a cvs format which you can then email from the field to your office or home. (It also exports in the popular eBird and Eremaea formats.) FieldSurvey also prints and saves map images, or exports maps in kml and gpx formats. Additionally, surveys and territories can be exported and shared with other FieldSurvey users.
Field survey geo-location will work with Wi-Fi only, but for greater accuracy is best used with a GPS-enabled device.
If you like this app, please consider rating it in the Apple App Store. FieldSurvey doesnt prompt for ratings and your positive rating are very much appreciated.
